Getting Started

Welcome to ACE Checklist Editor! This guide will help you create and manage professional aviation checklists for your Garmin avionics.

Before starting, ensure you have an SD card formatted as FAT32 for transferring checklists to your aircraft.

  • Download ACE Checklist Editor from the App Store
  • Launch the app on your iPhone or iPad
  • Create your first checklist or import existing .ace files
  • Export to SD card and insert into your Garmin avionics

Creating Checklists

ACE Checklist Editor provides an intuitive interface for creating professional aviation checklists that match your exact aircraft configuration.

  • Tap the + button to create a new checklist
  • Enter your aircraft model and registration
  • Add checklist sections (Preflight, Engine Start, Taxi, etc.)
  • Add individual checklist items with challenge and response
  • Color-code emergency items in red for quick identification
  • Organize by phase of flight for logical flow

Always verify your checklists against your aircraft's POH. ACE checklists supplement but do not replace official documentation.

Garmin Synchronization

Transfer your checklists directly to your Garmin avionics using an SD card. No cables or complex software required.

  • Export checklist as .ace file
  • Save to Files app or directly to SD card
  • Insert SD card into your Garmin unit
  • Navigate to Utilities > Checklists on your Garmin
  • Import the .ace file
  • Your custom checklist is now available in flight

Simulator Integration

For MSFS and X-Plane, place .ace files in the aircraft's avionics folder for automatic loading.

  • MSFS: Community folder → Aircraft → Panel → Garmin
  • X-Plane: Aircraft folder → Cockpit → avionics → checklists
  • Restart the simulator after adding checklists
  • Access via the MFD checklist page
